This page explains what happens with what you type into the Frontier Health Pro quote tool. It describes how the site works on the date above; if the site changes, this page changes.
What data we ask for
To show you plans and estimate help with the premium, the quote tool asks for:
- your ZIP code (and your county, if that ZIP code covers more than one);
- the age of each person who needs coverage;
- whether each person uses tobacco;
- whether someone is pregnant (optional);
- each person's immigration status, or that you prefer not to say;
- how many people are in the household that files taxes;
- the yearly income you expect to earn;
- whether you have an offer of insurance from your job (yes, no or I don't know);
- each person's sex (female or male), only if you want to see an estimate of medical costs; it is optional and you can skip it;
- how much medical care you expect to use in the year (a little, average or a lot), only if you ask for that estimate;
- if you choose, the names of the doctors, facilities and medicines you want to check against the plans (up to 5 of each).
We do not ask for your name, phone, email, address or Social Security number.
Where your answers go
When you ask to see plans, the site sends your answers to our server. The connection uses HTTPS.
Our server asks the CMS Marketplace API (the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services) for the plans in your county and for the tax credit calculation. We send CMS:
- your ZIP code and your county;
- each person's age and tobacco use;
- for each person, whether they could receive the tax credit: a yes or a no that our server works out from the immigration status you gave (the status itself is not sent);
- the household income;
- each person's sex and the level of use, only if you gave them, so that CMS can estimate medical costs for the year; if you do not, we send a fixed value that does not describe anyone;
- if you ask, the name you typed for a doctor, a facility or a medicine together with your ZIP code, and the plans you want to check.
Your answers about pregnancy and about an offer of insurance from your job reach our server, but they are not sent to CMS.
CMS returns the plans, the prices and the estimated credit, and the site shows them to you. Our server does not store them.
CMS has its own rules for the data it receives. This page only describes what our site does.
Sex, the level of use and what you search for about doctors and medicines are used only for that lookup: they do not change the price of plans or the help, and they are not stored.
What we do not store
- Your answers live in your browser's memory while the tab is open. If you reload the page or close it, they are erased.
- Our server does not store your answers or the result of the quote.
- The quote code does not write your ZIP code, your ages or your income to the server's logs.
- The web server's access log records only the date and time, the method, the path without parameters, the response code, the size and the duration. It does not record your IP address, your browser or what you type. If the web server logs a connection error, that separate log may include the IP address.
- To prevent abuse, the server counts in memory how many requests per minute come from each connection. That count is not written to any file.
- The server remembers in memory, for up to 12 hours, which counties belong to a ZIP code, so it does not ask CMS twice. It is a table of ZIP codes and counties: it does not say who looked them up.
What the site does not use
- We do not use cookies.
- We do not use visitor analytics or advertising tools.
- We do not store anything in your browser (no localStorage, no sessionStorage, no IndexedDB).
- The site does not load scripts, fonts or images from other domains, and the server's security policy prevents it.
The light or dark theme follows your device's setting and is not stored.
If you talk to the agent
If you decide to call the agent, that conversation is separate from this site: the site does not receive it or record it, and this page does not describe it.
The link to HealthCare.gov and the other links to outside sites do not carry your answers. The site you reach has its own privacy rules.
Changes
If we change what the site does with your data, we update this page and its date.
